Two LEGO® astronauts traveled across the universe to drop in on the National Space Centre (NSC) in celebration of International Lego Day.
On their visit, these space engineers took selfies with The Big Dish, the NSC’s 32-meter astro antenna and the largest dish in Ireland. They also toured the centre’s gallery of moon rocks and space junk.
International lego day: Visiting the NSC control room
Most importantly, they visited NSC’s Control Room to scale the heights of The Big Dish’s internal scaffold and hydraulic system and undertake emergency repairs on Satellite 30365.
Unlike the other dishes on-site, which range from 32 to 6 meters and are regularly maintained by the NSC’s own engineering team, Satellite 30365 measures in at only 7.63cm and requires specialist tools and appropriately scaled expertise.
The NSC would like to extend their thanks and congratulations to the team on the successful completion of this critical mission.
