Learn To Use Collaborative Robots, September 12th, Dublin
Universal Robots next Dublin event will take place aims to give Irish manufacturers a first-hand appreciation and understanding for how cobots can transform the workplace.
When and where is it on?
The event will take place on September 12th at Croke Park from 10:00am to 2:00pm.
How many years has it been going?
This is the second Dublin-based event of 2019 and is part of a nationwide tour from Universal Robots in response to the growing relevancy and understanding of how cobots can complement the Irish workforce.
What was the inspiration to start it?
In 2018, Universal Robots experienced revenue of $234 million globally, signalling the impact cobots are making across the world. Earlier this year, our Irish distributor, Reliance, recently opened a new facility in Limerick following a €500,000 investment and increased demand detailing that 2019 will transform Ireland’s relationship with automation. It’s the ideal time for us to connect with new customers and build on the successes we have made here to bring about a new understanding of cobots and challenge the perceptions that exist too, for instance that cobots are dangerous or pose a threat to jobs.
What exciting things can people look forward to?
The event will demonstrate that automation can enhance any business, including local small and medium sized business, not just large corporations with expert robotic engineers. Each event on the tour will be interactive with participants having the chance to engage with cobots to fully experience how they would be programmed and how automation can become an integral function of modern workflows.
What opportunities are on offer for those attending
Attendees will hear from various industry experts including Samantha Cummins-Byrne, Irish Development Lead at Universal Robots, and get hands-on experience with the collaborative robots and have the opportunity to see how flexible, versatile and user-friendly they are. In addition, attendees will hear from industry experts about how collaborative robots offer businesses the opportunity to best optimise production efficiency.
What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?
That if you have yet to experience cobots first hand, come with an open mind. While still a very new concept in Ireland, the addition of cobots across our other territories in the US and Europe details that cobots can improve efficiencies and lower costs – good news when we consider the rising costs of labour. In addition to their cost-saving benefits, cobots can mitigate dangerous or time-consuming tasks from humans when they become part of a workforce, allowing humans to focus on innovation, and as our cobots are incredibly intuitive, versatile and user-friendly they can be handled by employees with minimal training and slot into existing operations with very little effort.
