How many years has it been going?
This is the 4th Fair and Annual Conference about Open Source, Free Software and Open World Economy (Open Data and Open Innovation)
What was the inspiration to start it?
The OpenExpo events were launched in October 2012 by Philippe Lardy and Manu Sánchez. Since its creation, the aim has been to promote the Open Source and Free Software as well as help companies to know the different Open Source and Free Software solutions existing. That’s why, we have done different events on different topics such as ecommerce, mobile, ERP, CRM, business intelligence, free hardware, elearning, content managers among others.
Our big achievement since we started has been OpenExpo 2016, the biggest Open Source and Software Libre event of Spain, with more than 2.000 attendees and with very great opinion and comments from speakers, sponsors, exhibitors companies and attendees.

What exciting things can people look forward to for the 2017 version?
The 3 new main activities for OpenExpo 2017 are:
- OPEN CIO & IT EXECUTIVE SUMMIT: Invitation forum for CIOs & IT Leaders to participate in exclusive sessions.
- OPEN STARTUP CONNECTOR: Startup Competition, in an Investment Forum format, in which 10 finalist Startups will present their technology project based on the open source / open data ecosystem or developed through the use of open source tools / free software in front of the judges and investors.
- WOMAN IN OPEN TECHNOLOGY: Discussion forum and networking with the aim of supporting and encouraging the active participation of women in FLOSS communities and the use of free technologies.
We also offer different activities for Recruiting and Networking: OPEN TALENT (forum and meeting point for professionals looking to change their career within the free software industry and tech development for companies), OPEN TALKS, OPEN LAB, OPEN GAMES, MEETING POINT, NETWORKING & BEERS, FOOD & DRINK AREA, THE VIP CLUB (Space for participant companies, keynote speakers, sponsors to invite their clients and prospects), OPEN AWARDS SPAIN 2017 (Initiative created from and for the industry. We will award the best Open Source and Free Software initiatives), STARTUP VILLAGE,….

A meeting with more than 3,000 senior professionals in just one day: representatives of major companies and institutions, open source developers, hackers, experts, suppliers and users of all levels.
