JLab Talk reviewed, robust, attractive and good usability

This is our first time dealing with JLab, an American company based in Carlsbad, California. They have a wide range of audio products that look good, well designed and durable. We were sent the Jlab talk mic to review, which seemed like a good fit in relation to the work we have been doing on our rebooted podcast (did we mention we recently reached #2 in the Irish Tech podcast charts!) So we were definitely interested to review this product.

It is packaged well and is pretty straight forward in terms of what you get for your purchase, mic, connection lead, and some instructions. Though they have also helpfully posted an explainer video on their YouTube channel too.

It more or less works straight out of the box, with a Mac you still have to politely coax it to recognise these new inputs and outputs, but that is probably more about the Mac than the JLab mike. It is solid, well made, robot, and the tripod opens up well and gives a reassuring solidity to the mic. There are several settings, in terms of how you want to capture your audio. You will probably want to play around a little to see which one works best for you but they are all very straight forwards and you will quickly grasp it.

As more and more people are podcasting, it is great that kit like this is now emerging onto the market to enable aspiring podcasters to get started and get going with their own shows and content. As we mentioned before this is a new company to us, but one that seems interesting, creating good products and one we will keep an eye on.
