Results from new Irish survey about health risks from condensation

Kärcher’s new study reveals the findings of a new research study* which delves into Irish householders’ attitudes towards condensation and dampness in the home and highlights the potential health risks, safety concerns, and the potentially costly implications associated with these issues.

More than two-thirds of Irish households (68%) express concern about health issues and potential safety risks related to dampness and condensation in their homes, with nearly one in five (19%) reporting extreme concern. The research reveals that this widespread unease has significant implications for the cost of living, with increased heating costs (51%) and windowsill damage (33%) emerging as major worries for cost conscious consumers.

As condensation becomes prevalent, especially during the winter months, it is an issue that most Irish households face. Beyond the inconvenience of condensation, it can also pose serious health issues with damp and mould in the home, including respiratory issues, allergic reactions, headaches and fatigue, and irritation of the eyes, nose and throat. Addressing these issues promptly is crucial for maintaining a safe and healthy living environment while reducing the financial impact on householders.
