In a survey conducted by Innovative Solutions, the majority of Irish consumers were happy to test food, drinks and consumer products at home.
Respondents reported feeling at ease when testing and sampling products at home, and can allocate time to answer product questionnaires easier.
Innovate Solutions’ Home User Testing Service, Business Development Director, Aidan Murphy said ‘Covid-19 forced businesses to adapt in how they gain insights on their consumers taste preferences’
80% of new products fail within the first 24 months highlighting the importance of engaging in consumer taste testing to ensure brands will be successful.
“Given that there are so many start-ups and more mature businesses developing new products, rigorous consumer taste testing should be conducted’ added Murphy
Innovative Solutions is Ireland’s leading consumer food research and sensory testing company, and through their research surveyed over 2,000 Irish consumers.
They offer Home User Testing to businesses, so they can gain key insights into their targets tastes.
‘Home User Testing service can be used to test a wide-range of products from supermarket staples to dog food and perfumes and other beauty items to gain invaluable insights and in-depth data on their target consumers’ said Murphy.
The Innovate Solutions’ service identifies and recruits target consumers, sends the product to be tested to the consumer’s house, distributes consumer surveys, and compiles a detailed insight report for businesses.
Innovate Solutions’ large database of over 22,000+ consumer panelists nationwide, in turn, making recruiting easy when looking for the right target consumer.
‘it’s a no-brainer for businesses looking to gain insights into their target consumers’ likes and dislikes’ said Murphy.
Home User Testing is an opportunity for Irish food and drinks companies who have been impacted by COVID-19 to connect with current trends and customers’ changing tastes.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, there is a drive towards buying more Irish products, an increasing trend in consumers cooking their own meals at home, and a preference for low-sugar products.
‘Innovate Solutions offers very cost-effective solutions for businesses looking to gain critical insights that will help them build a brand instead of a one-hit wonder.’ Ended Murphy
