Earlier today the first driverless public transport vehicle in Ireland took to the streets of Dublin. The EZ10 took its first trip through Dublin’s Docklands and its one kilometer route takes in 4 stops, starting at the Convention Centre and ending at the 3 Arena on North Wall Quay.

Trips on the EZ10 are featuring in the ‘Future of Mobility Showcase’ event on North Wall Quay take place tomorrow from 11 am to 5 pm, and it is also one of this year’s European Mobility Week initiatives. The event organised by Dublin City Council as part of its ‘Smart Docklands’ project in partnership with the Civic Group brings a glimpse of the future of smart and sustainable transport to Dublin. Earlier today I interviewed Neil Cunningham the CEO of the Civic Group and you can hear the interview here.

I also got the chance to take a trip on the EZ10 which is fully electric, takes 6 passengers sitting and 9 passengers standing and it has a top speed of 24km/h. I made a periscope video of my trip on Twitter which you can see here.
