Ireland’s attitudes towards DIY and cleaning up garden mess

Kärcher research shows almost half of adults cite time-restraints as the biggest challenge faced when dealing with garden mess and DIY.

Kärcher, the world-renowned provider of innovative cleaning solutions, has conducted extensive research on the nation’s attitudes towards DIY and cleaning up garden mess. The research, conducted with 1,000 adults in Ireland, sheds light on the challenges faced when dealing with DIY projects and garden cleaning, as well as the importance of using the right tools for effective and efficient clean-ups.

According to Kärcher’s research findings, 40% of adults say the worst thing about cleaning up DIY and garden mess is that it’s so time-consuming. Physical discomfort, such as back pain, was cited by 21%, while 7% of adults revealed that their tools are inadequate for the job.

Moreover, the research conducted by Kärcher also shed light on the nation’s familiarity robust vacuum cleaners and their potential uses associated for cleaning up DIY projects. When it comes to utilizing vacuum cleaners, the majority of adults (79%) typically avoid using them for cleaning liquid spills, while 69% and 61% steer clear of using them for garden mess and messy DIY projects, respectively.

Research was carried out by independent qualitative research provider iReach Consumer Decisions Omnibus, on behalf of Kärcher, amongst a nationally representative sample of 1,000 Irish adults from 11th May – 19th May 2023.
