By @SimonCocking

When is it on?

Main event 17th May from 2.00PM until 10.00PM and Mobile Site Hackathon on 18th from 9.00am until 7.00pm

How many years has it been going?

Google I/O, since 2008, I/O Extended in Dublin since 2011

What was the inspiration to start it?

To bring the event hosted in California to local developers who can’t be over there in person

What exciting things can people look forward to for the 2017 version?

Apart from the live broadcast of the keynote, we will have talk on DeepMind, Android, Google Cloud, Machine Learning. We have also organised a panel on AR/VR as well as workshops for hands on experience on Android Things, Google Vision API, Progressive Web Apps.

What opportunities are on offer for people / startups/investors and companies attending?

Learn all about the technology Google is providing to developers but also meet many developers and Googlers.

What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?

Make sure to arrive early, doors open at 2.00pm, to get swags and spot in the earlier sessions. Make sure to check the agenda a few days before the event to be up to date with all the sessions. If you plan to come for a workshop, you’ll need your laptop and check the prerequisite on the site.

How can people book tickets / when does it usually sell out?

Tickets are free and there are still places available, though the closing date is the 8th May. To register, visit: https://events.withgoogle.com/io-dublin/registrations/new/

Anything else you’d like to add / we should have asked?

The schedule will be updated regularly until the event. Make sure to check back often, and opt-in to receive notifications when registering so we can keep you informed about the latest.
