What is your role at Symantec?
I joined the Symantec family 19 years ago and I am now the Global Director, Production and Fulfilment Readiness, and Dublin SWAN (Symantec Woman’s Action Network) chapter leader. I guide and support an amazing team who enable the global product groups to deliver their product releases guaranteeing Symantec customers can order their cybersecurity products.
What do you enjoy about working at Symantec?
I enjoy building something from scratch, contributing to society and supporting people’s growth. I enjoy collaborating with people to work through issues and see what was considered a problem become a project that invigorates a team to find and deliver a solution. Celebrating the delivery of the solution is extremely enjoyable!
It was this desire that drove me to complete my MSc. in Training and Performance Management. This programme is designed to meet the learning and professional development needs of human resource (HR) and training practitioners, managers, researchers and policy-makers who are involved in designing or researching workplace learning, work practices and skills systems for improved organisational performance.
I also obtained my Black Belt in Lean Sigma. Lean Sigma is a very successful methodology for Service Design and Operational Productivity Improvement. Lean Sigma is based on the elimination of waste and the reduction of variability in processing through engagement and respect for all staff. I was able to obtain these degrees through the Symantec education program.
What are the challenges of your role?
The challenges are keeping up with the speed at which the Tech industry is changing on a daily basis. Keeping yourself and your team contributions relevant and something that the industry will want in 12 months from now. Making sure you keep focused on where the industry is going and keeping ahead of changes within the industry.
