Insteon and Google Assistant release new voice-activated home system

Smart home device maker Insteon has partnered up with Google Assistant for a new range of voice-activated home systems, announced by the company on Monday.

The new range of products and security systems will provide support for Google Assistant, which will allow homeowners to configure lighting, plugs and other home utilities through the Assistant’s smartphone app.

Google Assistant is a voice-activated software which operates on a range of Android and iPhone devices as well as the company’s own Google Home speaker hub.

Insteon made the announcement at the Consumer Electronics Show 2018 in Las Vegas.

“Insteon continues to build interoperability with companies that enhance our customer’s experience with their connected home,” said CEO Rob Lilleness.

“With our latest integration with the Google Assistant, our customers have even more options to control their lighting system hands-free with their voice.”

In order to link the devices, users are required to connect to them through the Google Home app or Google Assistant on their smartphone. Once paired, customers can start controlling their Insteon devices immediately by issuing various voice commands.

The update will be available immediately and the company’s whole range of home tech products can be found on Amazon and Smarthome.com.
