Insomnia started in the UK in 1997 but this is the first event to run in Dublin

What was the inspiration to start it?

Insomnia has a strong legacy and format. The Irish organisers – SWD Events – have over 20 years experience in event management so they are the perfect team to bring the Insomnia brand to Dublin.

What exciting things can people look forward to? 

Playing the latest video games and hardware including the newly released HTC Vive Cosmos, Youtuber meet and greets, competitive esports, Cosplay, Indie Dev Zones, main stage demos and panel discussions

Who will be speaking? 

The event won’t really have people speaking as such, as its more an interactive experience. But all special guests can be found here http://insomniagamingdublin.ie/special-guests/ and there will be live stage discussions throughout the event. John Romero will be in attendance to discuss game development and design

What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?

Weekend tickets are available to ensure people have plenty of opportunity to see and do everything the event has to offer. VIP tickets will allow entry into the event an hour early. Obviously allow for the usual Dublin traffic and use public transport where possible.

The Insomnia Gaming Festival has been running in the UK for over 20 years and has grown to become the UK’s biggest event of its kind, regularly attracting audiences of 70,000 people to it’s Summer Insomnia festival.
