Infinix ZERO 5G reviewed

First up you get all the gadgets with the phone, charger lead, charger head, and headphones too. This is an evolving area where some phones come in a very minimal way, with none of these things, whereas with this phone you do get those things. On one hand no one wants to make the global pile of e-waste any bigger than necessary, and it is a good thing that we are moving towards standardised chargers.

On the other hand as a starter kit, this phone does enable you to hit the ground running. It’s pricing naturally enables you to allocate this phone for more robust usage, junior members of the team, or younger members of the family. All of those options work well with this phone.

Here on the office it is the second Infinix that we have reviewed so the team were familiar with the general set up, and also it’s own suite of apps, many similar to well known ones, but now offered in an Infinix version also. These were played around with, and some fun functionality was found. It is a big move to create and build all of these like for like apps, the challenge as always is going to be how or why to nudge users from the current more well known versions. Our testers found themselves hopping between both options, but the jury remains out in terms of if they will gain wider adoption.

The camera fires up fast and takes images that you can live with, and again, for the price that it is on the market it is good to great value. Our own social media hipsters enjoyed it using it and said that they would happily keep it for several more weeks or even months to document their activities with it. The version that we received was orange, which is probably not to everyone’s taste, but even this grew on us, and we liked the fact that it was a bit different. As everything else worked pretty well, and with good battery life too, the orange-ness would not be a show stopper.

Some more details about the ZERO 5G

ZERO 5G is the first 5G phone of Infinix featuring the incredible Dimensity 900 Processor from MediaTek, enabling higher speeds and making greater coverage more accessible.

The device exhibits a thin design with a curved back using a composite material that mimics the look and feel of glass. The uni-curve design also takes into account ergonomics and provides users with the best grip.

The 30X 48MP zoom camera allows users to capture crisp photos of distant objects. The rear camera boasts a volcano-like camera bump to continue the curved design and remove harsh and irregular design curves.

The ZERO 5G features a 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate, making web browsing, video and gaming experiences more enjoyable.
The device powers the users’ day with a 5000mAh battery with 33W quick charge. It’s also equipped with fully optimized TÜV Rheinland safe fast-charge technology.
