Indeed supporting new drive to improve young people’s digital skills

Indeed is supporting D7 Educate Together National School as 480 of its students embark on the School Excellence Fund programme 2018. The school was selected from a large group of schools across Ireland to secure a place on the government-led programme, which aims to improve learning outcomes for young people.

Indeed has donated 90 laptops to students as they embark on a project which will use technology to enable pupils from different schools to work together in clusters sharing knowledge and information, and enhancing their communication skills. There are different projects for defined class groups, beginning at introductory level for infant classes, up to a website project for 6th class, with newspaper/book project, photo gallery project, among others, in between.

This donation of equipment will ensure that students can gain the maximum benefit from the programme, and is the latest in a series of employer-led initiatives by Indeed in Dublin that last year saw over €25,000 raised by staff for local causes and over 1,200 employee hours donated.

Commenting from D7 Educate Together, Trish Clerkin, Principal said: “We are very fortunate to have been selected, as part of a cluster of 5 Inner City schools, to participate in the School Excellence Fund (Digital). There was great excitement when we were selected. The donation to D7 ETNS from Indeed will help to ensure that we make the most of the opportunity across all of the projects the classes will be working on.”

Indeed’s company mission is: ‘We Help People Get Jobs’. Much of the global job site’s work in the community is focused on developing professional and business skills, with the inaugural GOODdeeds Skills Academy held earlier this year. Local charities from the Dublin area joined Indeed volunteers from all areas of the business to develop professional and business skills, including social media management, online fundraising, and HR and people management.

Indeed also has a “Job Squad” to go out into the community and share skills and training with over 2,000 Irish jobseekers to date. The Job Squad engaged in 26 events last year with partners including Jobcare and Business in the Community, reaching over 700 local jobseekers.
