Huawei FreeBuds Pro reviewed

We are seeing more companies moving into the earbuds space, as we seemed to have moved rapidly away from the days when your headphones were actually joined together or even connected to anything. It might be old school to lament the passing of joined up gear, but when one falls out of your ear and rolls across the floor or worse, then it is still a live, actual real world issue. Around the household many people tried out these earbuds.

Some liked the design, the case is certainly ergonomically appealing and sits in your hand nicely. Some liked the earbuds in their ears, some felt that they didn’t always stay in well, hence triggering the falling earbud anxiety issues. The smokey, polished grey finish does work well and feels nice to handle. In terms of set up our tester was also pleased and found that it connected to their devices with less hassle and more speedily than others they had encountered recently.

On the other hand not everyone liked how they looked when they wore them, but maybe this matters less if it is more about the user than the viewer. The noise reduction worked well too. It is good to see Huawei release products like this, and it is always going to be a challenge to find a one size fits all ear piece, so this is definitely an interesting addition to the marketplace, though our internal team are still duking it out in terms of whether they absolutely love this one or not.

HUAWEI FreeBuds blurb & specs

Pro is the world’s first intelligent dynamic noise-cancelling earphones and this year’s flagship among Huawei’s audio products, further establishing Huawei's as a pioneer and innovator in the TWS
earphones field. The new earphones deliver exquisite craftsmanship, freedom from wires, excellent sound quality and long-lasting comfort along with an innovative, unique noise cancellation technology.

HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro are the world’s first TWS earphones that features intelligent dynamic noise cancellation. Improving on previous models, the noise cancellation is boosted up to 40dB 1 while theclosed in-ear fit naturally lends itself to cutting out distractions. Enhancing this further, the dual microphones positioned inside and outside the earbuds can quickly identify your surrounding noise environment and automatically switch between three noise cancellation modes – Ultra Mode, Cozy Mode and General Mode – to effectively cut out environmental noise. Whether the user is at home, going for a walk or in a busy train station, HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro intelligently senses their environment and improves the noise cancelling experience.

With active noise cancellation enabled, the battery lasts up to 4.5 hours; without noise cancellation enabled, the battery lasts a whole 7 hours without needing to charge with the included charging case 2 . Simply pinch the earbuds’ stem to control the noise cancellation on or off.
