SMEs make up 99.8 per cent of active enterprises in Ireland and employ two-thirds (66.9 per cent) of the workforce (CSO, 2025). Yet the people managing HR in those businesses are under mounting strain from rising admin demands, growing compliance pressures and a lack of support networks. Many are handling complex responsibilities while working remotely, without the supportive team environment typically found in large organisations and, in some cases, without any formal HR training or qualifications. Almost all (99.5 per cent) report feeling burned out. To help close this gap, HRLocker has announced the launch of HRLocker Hub, an online HR community created to support anyone with HR responsibilities across the country.
The launch follows HRLocker’s recent research with Irish SMEs, which revealed the scale of the challenge. HR teams now spend an average of nine hours a week on admin, with 85 per cent saying this is not an efficient use of their time. Compliance confidence is also low, with 74 per cent fearing they would fail an unannounced WRC inspection, and many lacking complete, up-to-date contracts, policies and essential records. These pressures are intensifying as expectations from both employees and employers continue to rise.
The HRLocker Hub has been designed to address these challenges by offering a safe, supportive online space where HR practitioners of all experience levels can connect, learn and share real?world solutions. The community is free and open to anyone working in HR in Ireland, including those who do not have HR in their job title, and is fully accessible to people working in organisations that are not HRLocker customers.
A core feature of the Hub is access to expert support. A select group of HR specialists, employment law advisors and industry practitioners from across Ireland will regularly contribute guidance, resources and practical insights directly into the community. Members will gain access to expert?led discussions, live events, Q&A features and dedicated resources that support every aspect of their day?to?day HR work.
Crystel Robbins Rynne, CEO of HRLocker, said the Hub reflects the company’s mission to strengthen the HR ecosystem in Ireland. “We’ve built the foundations, but the Hub will be shaped by its members. It’s a collaborative space where people can share challenges, spark ideas and support one another in real time. While it includes resources and tools, it is far more than a static library. It’s a community that will grow and evolve as the needs and voices of its members do.”
As a homegrown Irish business and the country’s leading people?management platform for SMEs, HRLocker has long been embedded in the HR landscape. The company was founded by HR consultants who understood firsthand how demanding and isolating the role can be. The Hub reflects that heritage. HRLocker acts as the quiet facilitator behind the scenes, providing the structure, safety and culture that allow members to thrive without dominating the conversation.
The platform is organised into dedicated spaces, including community threads for open discussion, an ask anonymously function for questions about sensitive issues, a wealth of practical tools and a member centre to help newcomers settle in. HRLocker customers also have access to a dedicated customer zone, with plans for a learning centre focused on product?specific training and accreditation.
Membership is free and open now to anyone with HR responsibilities in Ireland.
