By @SimonCocking, quick catch up with Michael Goeden, Director of Strategic Partnerships, Digital Marketing Institute. He will be speaking at the upcoming Digital Transformation Conference, at the Pavilion Theatre, Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin taking place on 8th June 2017 (see here more info and for tickets).
What you are doing now?
As the Director of Strategic Partnerships at the Digital Marketing Institute my focus is developing large, multinational distribution channels and contributing to the strategic development of the business as a whole.
The business has developed over the last 8 years into the dominant digital marketing and digital selling professional certification body. We have developed an international network of licensed partners and distributors in over 100 countries and over 18,000 professionals have completed our programmes.
An important part of this is positioning the business as a thought leader and authority in its field and we do this by creating and distributing great content that has value.
How was the last 12 months, what worked well, what didn’t move as quickly as you would have liked?
Over the last 12 months we were successful in establishing a strong presence in the US market through agreements with Universities, private training providers, and other educational distribution businesses. Secondly, our work with IBM to certify 2,500 IBM digital sales staff globally was deployed successfully with great feedback and results. And finally we launched our professional certification in digital & social selling.
What are your plans for the future?
Core to our business is educating and certifying marketing and sales professionals around the world, and our certification numbers continue to grow 50% year on year – we plan to continue this growth. Our plan is to plug into the global education ecosystem and ensure our training and certification is available around the world to provide opportunity for individuals and businesses, and support the profession as a whole.
What will you be talking about at this event?
I want to share some key principles of creating and distributing useful content that helps position your business in the right way, build brand awareness, thought leadership, and drive inbound leads. I hope to back this up with some examples and stats from the Digital Marketing Institute’s own experiences of content marketing and the work done by our incredible marketing and sales teams. I want participants to leave feeling that there are things they can do routinely as an individual, a team and as an organization to leverage the power of great content.
What inspired you to attend it?
The Digital Marketing Institute is based in Dun Laoghaire (I don’t have far to walk to the conference !) and I know there are going to be lots of local businesses who hopefully will get some value out of the day and the line-up of speakers.
