Hot Competition as Nominees for the 6th Annual Switcher.ie Awards are Announced

Switcher.ie, the independent price comparison and switching service, has today announced the nominees for the 2019 Switcher.ie Awards. Key household names such as – eir, Sky, Three, Tesco Mobile, Virgin Media and Vodafone – are all in the running for an award based on what Irish consumers and industry experts really think of the service provided by the nation’s telecoms companies.

With telecoms playing such an important role in the lives of Irish households, it’s important to recognise those providers who are going above and beyond to deliver outstanding products and services to their customers. Now in their 6th year, the awards will shine a light on the telecoms market in Ireland and reward the best broadband, TV and mobile providers as voted by Irish customers, a panel of independent expert judges and real customer speed tests and ratings.

This year there will be 17 awards presented across both the broadband and TV and mobiles industries. The winners of the coveted top awards of Best Broadband Provider and Best Mobile Operator will also be revealed on the night.

Virgin Media is currently leading the way in the broadband and TV categories being nominated in all 12 categories. They are followed by Vodafone and eir with eight nominations each and Sky with six. Meanwhile, the competition heats up in the mobile arena with Three and Vodafone both nominated in all five categories. In order to paint a well-rounded picture of the Irish telecoms industry, the awards include customer voted categories such as Best Mobile Operator for Data, Best Customer Service, and Best Technical Support.

Winners will be announced in an awards ceremony at The Marker Hotel in Dublin on Thursday, 21 February 2019. A full list of broadband and TV award categories and nominees is available at https://switcher.ie/broadband/awards/, while mobile award categories and nominees can be viewed at https://switcher.ie/mobiles/awards/.

Eoin Clarke, Managing Director of Switcher.ie, said: “With the already fierce telecoms industry in Ireland continuing to grow in leaps and bounds, consumers need support in determining which broadband and mobile providers will give them the best service and value for money. The Switcher.ie Awards lend a helping hand by showcasing the best providers and products on the market.

“Not only do these annual awards provide important information to help people make more informed buying decisions, they also give them the chance to learn from other consumers experiences with the different providers and products on the market. The awards run alongside our free broadband and TV comparison tool and SIM-only mobile comparison which allows people to easily compare and switch plans.

“As the first awards of their kind in Ireland that give customers a real voice, it’s great to see them enter their 6th year and continue to recognise excellence within the telecoms industry.”
