Host in Ireland, a strategic global initiative created to increase awareness of the benefits of hosting digital assets in Ireland, today announces its charitable support of a video to be produced on behalf of the Temple Street Foundation and Techies4TempleStreet. Filming will take place on Saturday, June 18, between 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. in the Lansdowne Room at the Royal Dublin Society (RDS) and coincides with the CoderDojo Coolest Projects’ Launch’d event, Ireland’s largest innovator and evolving technology summit. This year, Techies4TempleStreet’s goal is to raise €250,000 to help fund a new Neurology and Renal Outpatients Unit.
To drive awareness and fundraising for the Temple Street Foundation and Techies4TempleStreet, a charitable event that brings together the technology community to raise funds for the Temple Street Foundation, the video will be produced by professional choreographer and former Riverdance troupe member, Lynn Henderson, and will feature up to 80 children and adults. The video, shot in a dance sync style that will blend hip-hop with traditional Irish dancing, will then be released on social media where viewers will be asked to make donations to the Temple Street Foundation, and teams of employees from Irish and multinational companies will be encouraged to participate in the Techies Treasure Trail. The Techies Treasure Trail, a Techies4TempleStreet fundraising event that attracts over a thousand tech sector participants, combines outdoor activities with digital media challenges in a team-bonding exercise that has a positive impact on the lives of sick children across Ireland. The Techies Treasure Trail will take place on July 8 across the Dublin City Centre, starting and finishing at the RDS.
“To be involved in raising awareness of the Temple Street Foundation and Techies4TempleStreet is both a pleasure and honour,” states President and Founder of Host in Ireland, Garry Connolly. “The creation of this video is to increase awareness of how companies and individuals can help Temple Street Hospital. It’s important to Host in Ireland to give something back to the community and it should be great fun.”
“The Temple Street Foundation and Techies4TempleStreet are grateful to everyone at Host in Ireland,” comments Corporate Development Manager of the Temple Street Foundation, Helena Bibby. “At the inaugural event last year, over 700 members of the tech community helped raise over €150,000 in much-needed funds. Now in its second year, we have over 90 companies attending the Techies Treasure Trail across Dublin and hope to raise €250,000 for a new Neurology and Renal Outpatients Unit for the Temple Street University Children’s Hospital.”
Participants for the promotional dance sync video are asked to first register for free to attend the CoderDojo Coolest Projects’ Launch’d event by visiting www.tickets.coolestprojects.org/. Each participant will receive a Temple Street Foundation t-shirt, pin and string backpack. Companies who wish to take part in the Techies Treasure Trail can register at www.techies4templestreet.ie/Competitors/.
