Hive rolls out home monitoring device for a budget price

Smart home tech company Hive unveiled a new indoor camera which will function as a security and monitoring device and will be available for sale immediately.

A subsidiary of Centrica, Hive is the manufacturer of smart tech devices to be fitted around the home to allow for overall security and connectivity.

Their latest product, Hive View, is a lightweight camera that provides a 130-degree view of the room and has human recognition that will automatically trigger the camera when movement happens within the lens.

The device’s other main feature is ‘Grab and Go’, which allows it to be removed from its stand and placed anywhere around the home for extra portability and is controlled via the Hive smartphone app.

The recordings can be accessed within a timeframe of 24 hours, but a membership to Hive’s Video Playback service can give users a rolling 30-day video history. The service is available for €19.99 per month.

Videos are recorded in 1080p and the camera has full HD livestream integration. It is available on Hive’s website for €199.
