HealthBeacon plc (“HealthBeacon”), a global leader in adherence devices and software that manage critical and chronic medications, has announced a partnership with U.S. specialist purchasing organisation, MedicoCX.

MedicoCX supports over 225 allergy, asthma and immunology clinics across the U.S., providing collective buying power for clinicians. The partnership will see MedicoCX introduce HealthBeacon’s technology to clinicians in its network, supporting patients that require enhanced at-home support as part of their treatment.

In January 2022, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid’s Services introduced a new set of reimbursement codes for the Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM) of patients. The introduction of these RTM codes provides a way for clinicians to deliver virtual care and support patients with their medication adherence in the home for certain therapeutic treatments. The partnership between HealthBeacon and MedicoCX allows both companies to help patients access support,  enabling enhanced at-home solutions for clinicians and their patients.

Jim Joyce, Co-Founder and CEO of HealthBeacon, said:

“The introduction of RTM codes in January 2022 is significant in terms of the accessibility it provides to our technology for Medicare patients on at-home injectable medications. We know patients often fail to adhere to their injection schedule, and so expanding access to our adherence technology is a priority for us as a health technology company. This partnership is an important first step for us as we focus on utilising RTM to achieve greater and more equitable access to our technology. We are delighted to announce this partnership with MedicoCX as they will be directly promoting the benefits of our technology to the hundreds of clinics in their network.”

Elizabeth Johnson, CEO of MedicoCX, said:

“One of our main goals as an organisation is to find innovative ways to increase patient adherence to prescribed therapies. Our partnership with HealthBeacon helps us bring this ambition to life, helping patients maintain their quality of life while still having quality oversight and support from their provider.

We are extremely delighted to work with HealthBeacon and look forward to continued partnership to improve the lives of patients.”

The partnership will help address the real-world challenges that patients on chronic injectable medications face by providing remote monitoring and adherence support. One out of two patient’s fail on their medications within the first 12 months of initiation. HealthBeacon’s Injection Care Management (ICMS) platform has demonstrated up to 26% improvement in adherence to therapy. Through this partnership, HealthBeacon’s ICMS will become a valuable clinical monitoring and communication tool for MedicoCX affiliated clinicians and their patients.
