Hawa Dawa, a Munich-based company specializing in air quality management, won the WSA-Germany Award together with eight other participants in the competition of 378 submitted solutions. Hawa Dawa is the winner in the “Smart Settlement & Urbanisation” category.

Intelligent content combined with optimized use of state-of-the-art technology offers immense opportunities to close global and local divides and achieve UN SDGs.

Hawa Dawa was nominated for the international UN WSA Prize as the best national digital solution for Germany in the category “Smart Settlement & Urbanisation”.

The WSA nominees are carefully selected by the WSA National Experts in more than 184 UN member states. A nomination for the global WSA Award is therefore in itself an award – the qualification to compete at an international level and to withstand comparison with the other high-ranking nominees.

The criteria focus on digital innovations of the solution with its impact on society. With the nomination in the category Smart Settlement & Urbanization, Hawa Dawa qualifies for the evaluation by the WSA Online Jury 2020.

The more than 340 international nominations form a global cross-section of digital innovation, from Canada to Indonesia, from Finland to Mozambique.

The 2020 WSA nominees demonstrate the richness, diversity, future, and innovation of digital solutions on a global scale, proving how digital technology can improve society in every corner of the world.

The ESC 2020 nominees will be assessed on the basis of seven basic criteria: Content, Functionality, Design, Technology, Innovation, Impact, and Value.

WSA Chairman Peter A. Bruck: ” “WSA combines two major perspectives in its initiative – first the commitment on the UN SDGs, and how to use ICTs to development.

And second the development of a global knowledge society. The UN SDGs must be our measurement – in terms of what to look at and where to look.

Today we are living in a completely different environment – through the mobile revolution, through the emergence of the algorithmic age – data has become a capital as much as labour, land money, and machinery.

Hence, it is more important than ever to evaluate what is excellent content that really offers solutions and impact. Qualitative, local content has become the key and permanent issue. WSA presents innovation that uses ICT for social connectivity. To connect for impact.“
