Gopili overview of Dublin tech scene, a Phocuswright Europe encounter

By @SimonCocking

How was Phocuswright?

It was really positive and enabled to connect with the major European and American travel leaders. It gives good insights of the current trends and challenges. The organisation was great such as the conferences. I especially liked the idea of having networking areas.

Why did you come?

As CEO of KelBillet & Gopili, I was invited as a guest speaker for the roundtable “Multi-modal Mania”. The multi-modal landscape is constantly evolving and it’s interesting to discuss the challenges and opportunities with other players operating in the travel industry.

The Phocuswright conference was also the opportunity to announce the launch of our services in Spain via our European brand Gopili – www.gopili.es. We launched our brand in UK 5 months ago – www.gopili.co.uk. It was finally a great opportunity to connect with existing but also potential partners.

What did you get out of it?

Phocuswright is a great conference for networking with other travel leaders. We have made some good contacts and we are strongly confident in closing these partnership agreements very soon.

How did you find Dublin?

Grey and windy 🙂 More seriously, it’s a dynamic and friendly city, it will be a pleasure to come back for leisure or business purposes.

How does Irish tech scene compare to Spanish one ?We are based in France and have just launched our services in Spain so we are not yet fully knowledgeable regarding the Spanish tech scene. However, Dublin is one Europe’s major tech hub with the headquarters of tech giants such as Google and Facebook but also very interesting tech companies operating in the e-transport industry like Indigo, CarTrawler and GetThere.

Gopili, the multimodal travel search engine, announced new partnerships with some of the most important European carriers and transport companies. Deutsche Bahn (Germany), National Express (UK), Logitravel, Alitravel, Viajes el Corte Ingles and Movelia (Spain) joined this month a list of partners that already includes SNCF, Blablacar, Eurolines, iDBUS, Thalys and Bravofly among others.

The closing of the new partnerships happens together with Gopili’s European expansion. Yann Raoul, Gopili’s CEO, announced at the Phocuswright conference in Dublin, the launch of Gopili.es, the Spanish version of its search engine, following the success in France and the UK.

Following this move, the startup goes on with its revolution of the European travel market with a technology designed to provide the best rates for all transportation modes available for a given journey: train, bus, plane and ride sharing.

Bénédicte Langlais-Richer, Managing Director, DBFrance, says: “We are pleased to combine Deutsche Bahn (DB) offers with KelBillet’s (& Gopili’s) distribution skills, an e-commerce platform recognized and appreciated by consumers. It is a unique opportunity for DB to reinforce its position as a leader in the mobility sector”.

Yann Raoul, CEO of Gopili, says: “We are very excited to welcome on board our new partners. Including these leading transport companies represents a new step forward in Gopili’s history and final objective: facilitate travellers’ research by providing them with all travel options in one single search”.
