Google unveils The Bakery as new report finds it contributed over €10bn to Ireland’s economy

Google unveils The Bakery, its newest building in Dublin’s Docklands, set to welcome Google employees from late 2027.

Ruth Porat, President & Chief Investment Officer of Alphabet and Google, was joined by Peter Burke TD, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, at the unveiling of Google’s new office building, affirming Google’s commitment to Ireland, with its opening a landmark moment to celebrate the vibrancy of the Irish economy.

The Bakery, located at Grand Canal Street in Dublin at the site of the original 1874 City of Dublin Bakery founded by Patrick Boland, will add an additional 325,000 square feet to its existing footprint in Ireland. It will have capacity to accommodate up to 1,900 Googlers, part of Google’s 6,000 employees in Dublin, as well as a dedicated events hub.

Sustainability has been central to the building’s design, with the reuse of its existing structural steel and use of low carbon materials and rainwater harvesting, and a rooftop terrace with extensive native planting among its key features.

The event also marked the launch of Implement Consulting Group’s research, looking at Google’s contribution to the Irish economy – the first analysis of Google’s economic impact in Ireland. The report estimates that Google contributed more than €10 billion to Ireland’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2025 alone, and supported over 18,000 jobs across the wider Irish economy.

It is also fitting that a building so central to Ireland’s political emergence is now an engine room for our digital and economic future.”

Implement Consulting Group have published a report that seeks to capture Google’s economic contribution to GDP through three valuable channels for the Irish economy:

Products & Platforms (approx €4 billion): Led by Search and Ads (€3.5 billion) and Android & Google Play (€370 million), which connect Irish businesses to global markets.

AI & Cloud (approx €3.0 billion): Driven by rapid adoption of cloud computing (€2.2 billion) and AI workflows (€900 million) that are boosting productivity across Irish enterprises and public institutions.

Infrastructure & Offices (approx €3 billion): Supported by Google’s physical footprint, including office operations (€2.2 billion) and its data centre hub in Ireland (€1.1 billion).

Google’s presence is associated with significant employment in Ireland. Implement Consulting estimated that in 2025, Google supported over 18,000 jobs across the wider Irish economy, including more than 6,000 Google employees.
