Hot on the heels of making the Chromecast available here, Google have made purchasing movies a possibility in the Irish Play Store. Slowly, over the last couple of years, Google have been drip feeding us new features such as music and books, that have been available in other regions for some time.

Movies was the last remaining missing feature of the Play Store. It had been long believed that movies may have never come to Ireland as the hassle of licensing for such a small market did not make it worth it.

Even in 2014, there is still a shortage of legal options available to Android users for downloading movies with some of the recent entrants to the market since shutting down.

You can check out the Play Store’s movie selection on this link. Movies range from around €2 and up to rent and up to €14 to buy depending on their age etc.
