Google have announced two new Google Play Edition devices today which adds a 6 inch phablet and an 8 inch tablet to the line up. They are available to order from today on the Play Store, which of course means you’ll have to be creative if you want to order one from Ireland.

LG-G-Pad-8.3-GPE

LG are bringing their 8.3″ G Pad to the stock Android party, filling a gap between the somewhat small Nexus 7 and the larger Nexus 10. The G Pad comes with some pretty decent specs which includes:

  • 1920 x 1200 display
  • 1.7GHz Snapdragon 600 processor
  •  5MP rear/ 1.3MP front camera
  • 4,600 mAh battery
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 16GB on board storage
  • Micro SD card expansion
  • 8.3mm thickness
  • 338 grams

This is sure to be a popular device. The $350 price tag, quick updates and a size which many feel is ideal all add up to a pretty enticing package.

Xperia Z Ultra GPE

The Sony Xperia Z Ultra completes the line up, filling the void between Smartphone and Tablet. And fill it, it does. At 6.44 inches, its screen is one of the biggest available on any device that is still classed as a phone. The Z Ultra is also available from today and will set you back $650.

Here’s an overview of the specs:

  • 1920 x 1080 display
  • 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 processor
  • 16GB on board storage
  • 2GB of RAM
  • Micro SD card expansion
  • 8MP rear/ 2MP front camera
  • LTE support

It’s certainly a beast of a phone but if you are in the market for a phablet it’s worth considering.
