The Google Chromecast App is now available to download in the Irish Play Store. Why is that important you might ask? Well the App is only of any use if you have a Chromecast dongle to go with it. Currently the hardware is only available to purchase in America and up until this point the App was only officially available to download there too.
So why have Google made this available now outside of the US? Maybe it’s because they know people are shipping them from the US around the world and they are making it easier for those people to get their hands on the App, but more likely is that Google are about to start selling the device internationally.
With their upcoming event for the unveiling of the Nexus 5 and Android 4.4, it maybe that Google will also announce international availability of the Chromecast dongle at the same time. Here’s hoping anyway. We’ve discussed the device before and at its low price point we believe it has great potential, even if it is in its infancy for now.
