Rumours started to appear this morning that an Official Gmail App is in the works for iOS and is in fact just waiting for Apple approval. For many Gmail and iOS users this has been a notable omission to the application line up. While users have been abel to use third party apps to check their Gmail, they lacked features such as push notifications or being able to “star” content. With iOS 5’s new notifications, an official Gmail App should integrate nicely.
Let us know what you think below. More as the story develops…..
Update: Just as soon as the App was launched, it has been pulled for Notification issues along with an apology from Google for “messing up”
Update 2: The Gmail App for iOS has been released again and should now be available to download from the App store. Google is promising improved notifications and support for multiple accounts among other fixes to make it less “crap”! If you have the original App installed you should delete it before installing the new version.
