GenComm series concludes with final webinar

The final webinar in the GenComm hosted HAZEL Autumn series webinars will take place on Tuesday, November 17, and is titled: Marketable hydrogen innovations-Innovation & Entrepreneurship.

The ‘Green Hydrogen enAbled Zero Emissions suppLy (HAZEL) webinar series addressed the entire supply chain of GreenH2 and the 4 quadrants of the HAZEL project H2 production, H2 sustainability, H2 safety, and H2application and Use,.

The Gencomm seminar series was planned to communicate and inform on the innovative HAZEL project and timed to coincide with the Horizon 2020-funded European Green Deal Call a €1 billion investment to boost green energy transition and spur Europe’s recovery from the coronavirus crisis by turning green challenges into innovation opportunities.

GenComm concludes with the most innovative webinar yet

Looking forward to the webinar GenComm Programme Manager Paul McCormack said: “Our series of webinars since September have helped inform, develop and shape new roles for hydrogen as an energy carrier.

Hydrogen is a key component of the future of a decarbonised energy mix and can act as the catalyst for greening the EU energy spectrum. This final HAZEL webinar will examine the innovation of energy carriers through academic and industry alliances. Partnerships are vital on this journey we are all on.”

There are four speakers on the day including Mathieu Mori who took over the role of Programme Director for Interreg NWE on September 1. Mathieu will speak on ‘Green H2 NWE’.

He has vast experience in European Territorial Cooperation, previously working for six years as Secretary-General of the Assembly of European Regions. Mathieu holds an MSc in European Public Policy from University College London and a Pgcert in historical studies from Oxford University.

He arrived in the Joint Secretariat at a strategic time since Interreg northwest Europe is currently shaping its future programme which will run from 2021 to 2027.

Blaž Likozar from Kemijski institut, Slovenia will speak on : `Catalytic H2 Production Processes from Liquid Carbon/Nitrogen based Hydrogen Carriers’. Professor Dr. Blaž Likozar (senior research associate; assistant professor; department head) earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering in 2008 at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology.

He has been a member of the National Institute of Chemistry (NIC) since 2011, working as senior research fellow, assistant professor, and department head in the field of chemical engineering (Department of Catalysis and Chemical Reaction Engineering); he leads the program “Chemical Reaction Engineering”, as well as numerous research projects (e.g. 14 H2020).

His present expertise lies in engineering, heterogeneous catalyst materials, and the modelling, simulation, and optimization of process fluid mechanics, transport phenomena, and chemical kinetics.

He worked in 2014–2015 at the University of Delaware (Catalysis Center for Energy Innovation, Newark, Delaware, USA) as a Fulbright Program researcher.

Prof. Likozar has published over 190 scientific research articles, having the h-index of 27 (presently, >3000 citations). He mostly investigates the reactions of H2, CO2, and biomass.

Dijana Likar from GenComm partner, IECE, Macedonia will speak on ‘Innovative Foundations’. Dijana is the Head of the Energy Department in IECE.

Dijana has developed research and innovation projects for the improved application of renewable energy sources, energy efficiency of residential buildings, industrial plants.

Her work also includes innovative multi-criteria methodological approaches for the evaluation of projects in energetics, training programs for technical, economical and regulatory aspects of use of energy in technical designs – Complex Energetics EEER (environmental, economic and regulatory demands in energetics), She is the author of a number of international conference papers and presentations.

Ross Gazey from Pure Energy Centre, Scotland will speak on ‘Bio to H2’. Ross’s career in hydrogen and renewable technology spans almost 20 years in designing, developing, implementing, and operating hydrogen and renewable energy solutions for customers.

He has been responsible for the technical delivery of the first renewably powered low and high-pressure hydrogen refuelling stations in Scotland.

In addition, he has also been the technical lead in innovative pan- European projects developing smart mobility, smart grid, electric mobility, hydrogen transport infrastructure, and innovative hydrogen safety solutions.

Ross maintains an active link between academia and industry in applying the latest innovations to meet customer needs.

Ross has authored and co-authored in over 25 publications including the Elsevier Comprehensive Renewable Energy 2012 reference modules and most recently in the Elsevier Renewable and Sustainable Energy Review-Journal.
