Gamma, the leading location intelligence services provider in Ireland, has announced that its retrofit technology, BERWOW, has driven over €3.5 million in residential retrofit projects since launching in August 2020.
The cloud-based solution, developed by Gamma and start-up company BERWOW, is already being utilised by An Post and SSE Airtricity, the latter of which has noticed a 60% increase in retrofit project conversion rates since deploying the technology.
The online energy upgrade recommendation tool was the first of its kind to be developed in Ireland and now offers information based on specific buildings, as opposed to property types. Gamma is the first accredited organisation to get access to SEAI BER API, which facilitates the new building-specific assessment.
By utilising building energy rating certification data, the solution shows homeowners what energy upgrade options are available to them including roof and wall insulation, boiler upgrades, triple glazing, heat pumps and smart control systems.
Furthermore, it estimates the cost of these upgrades and shows people what grants are available to support their retrofit plans, whilst connecting them to reliable SEAI-approved contractors for delivery of same.
The revolutionary technology also provides information regarding the impact of the recommended measures on BER in terms of consumers? home efficiency levels, energy costs and carbon footprint. Furthermore, it enables energy providers to better support their customers and contribute to the fight against climate change.
Feargal O’Neill, CEO, Gamma, said: “As Ireland attempts to meet its carbon emissions targets, the retrofitting of domestic property is absolutely crucial. By leveraging the right data, homeowners can become more energy efficient and reduce their energy costs, whilst benefitting the environment. No matter how small these measures, together they can make a big difference.
“At Gamma, we strive to be at the forefront of innovation and transformation in location intelligent data analysis. The BERWOW tool does just that, using location intelligence and data to address real-world issues and help people to make better-informed decisions – and it doesn’t come much bigger than climate change.”
Michael Hanratty, CEO, BERWOW, added: “As an Irish technology start-up which creates smart solutions to support sustainability in the retrofit industry, we are delighted to see the impact that this tool is having and how it is empowering Irish households to explore, plan and implement energy upgrades to their homes.”
