The audience at FutureSec 2019, a major conference on cybersecurity in Cork today, will be told the value of the industry is set to hit 6 trillion US dollars over the next 2 years. With cyber-attacks and security hacks becoming increasingly sophisticated, the timing is perfect for Futuresec 2019 to arrive at Cork Opera House.
At the first event of its kind in the city, delegates will hear how companies need to anticipate developments, stay ahead of the curve and avoid complacency at all costs. This kind of approach is becoming ever more vital with the evolution of the digital landscape and the growth of cybercrime.
A series of keynote presentations, panel discussions and briefings are on the agenda at Futuresec 2019, from cutting-edge industry practitioners and experts.
– Efrene Sakilayan FBI
– Koos Lodewijkx, IBM VP & CISO
– Deirdre McGoldrick, Assistant Commissioner, Technology Multinational Supervision Unit, DPC Ireland
Another highlight on the programme will be a live hacking simulation on stage to show the ease with which hackers can steal data over public WIFI facilities.
The organiser of Futuresec 2019, Ronan Murphy says: “Every day we open the paper we see the breaches are getting bigger. We’ve just seen British Airways fined 200 million pounds by the UK regulator and the trend is set to continue so it’s a big challenge for businesses. Advancing regulations mean businesses are taking the challenge seriously, but there’s no doubt we’re playing catch-up with the bad guys who are always innovating”.
