The Future of Artificial Intelligence is on the Edge, StrongNode

We are now witnessing the unprecedented rise of technologies and machines that replicate human intelligence, with some designed to run without human intervention. The common goal is not to replace humans but to create machines with superhuman abilities that will support and amplify human endeavors. Ethical issues aside, there are highly dangerous, highly repetitive, and compute-intensive activities that are best performed by machines so humans can focus on thriving and enriching existential pursuits.

Edge AI with StrongNode

Edge AI, the fusion of Artificial Intelligence and Edge Computing, is a segment getting an increase of interest from the investment sector as more companies embark on their aim to level up in their digital transformation efforts. To clarify, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the technology of simulating human intelligence such as perception and problem solving and Machine Learning (ML) is a subset of AI focused on learning while Deep Learning (DL) is a subset of ML involved with independent learning.

As Edge Computing brings computing to the edge of the network, Edge AI is hence the processing, computation, and analysis of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning/Deep Learning data and algorithms at the edge of the network or close to the data source. This decentralized method (web 3.0) contrasts with the slower, longer, and more expensive centralized method where processing happens at the cloud (web 2.0) or in a dedicated server (web 1.0).

Data computation and processing are now moving to the edge as AI requires instant, real-time, and accurate analysis and response from the machines. We experience the beauty and benefits of Artificial Intelligence on the edge in these cases:

  • Traffic Management
  • Customer Satisfaction
  • Quality Assurance in manufacturing facilities
  • Agricultural Management
  • Autonomous Vehicle Systems
  • Healthcare

From USD 36.5 billion in 2021 to USD 87.3 billion by 2026, the edge computing market is forecasted to expand at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 19.0%. The edge computing market ecosystem includes hardware vendors (e.g. Cisco, Nokia, Intel), infrastructure providers (e.g. AWS, Google, VMWare), platform and software services (e.g. IBM, Microsoft, SAP, Red Hat), network connectivity providers (e.g. Comcast, Verizon, AT&T, Ericsson), and end-users (healthcare, telecoms, media and entertainment, government and defense, etc).

This vast interconnected edge network of systems and stakeholders is instrumental and crucial to the speed and strength of the development of Artificial Intelligence. Without the infrastructure, hardware, software, people, and communities behind it, AI as well as other technologies like the Internet of Things cannot flourish and meet rising demands.

StrongNode on the Edge

One emerging company poised to play a key role in the edge ecosystem and to make inroads for the Artificial Intelligence industry is StrongNode.io. Touted as an Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) firm, StrongNode is creating and building its edge network by growing a robust user base initially from its gaming community and metaverse platform (Original Gamer Life/ogl.gg) and expanding from there into telecoms, media and entertainment, healthcare, and other similar industries dealing with a high volume of data and requiring high-speed of data processing. The gaming world in particular, with 3 billion gamers globally, represents a segment of the market that can both provide as well as use the spare compute resources (CPU/GPU, network bandwidth, and data storage) of edge nodes because of its intensive computing and processing requirements.

The StrongNode Edge technology can help advance Edge AI to achieve these advantages:

High speed and reduced latency – with the decrease in the volume and distance of data transmission, Edge AI users will gain a better digital experience and higher customer satisfaction.

Low bandwidth and high volume of data – with a minimum bandwidth requirement, a wider network is cast making it possible to analyze more data among Edge AI clients.

Security and data privacy – edge-centric processing lowers the risk of exposing data to potential cyber attacks when compared to processing that takes a longer time and distance.

Lower cost – data managed at the edge avoids high fees incurred from processes done purely at cloud-based data centers.

About STRONGNODE

StrongNode.io is an Infrastructure-as-a-Service technology company and innovation lab that powers companies globally through its next generation of edge networking by uniquely harvesting a trifecta of idle compute resources and leveraging new blockchain technologies. We are delivering an on-demand, secure, and scalable node technology that will fundamentally reshape the future of how increasingly valuable compute resources are accessed and monetized.
