From Angelina Jolie to ICOs with DoYeop Kim

By @SimonCocking interesting interview with DoYeop Kim, Director, Business Development at Atlas Guide | Board member of Advisor at Smart Group inc

What is your background briefly?

Here is a brief history, I was a strategist / chief operations – serving for South Korean presidential security service and I then moved to the United Nations shortly after Mr. Ban was appointed for the UN Secretary-General. Since then I was assigned at the war crime international tribunal, UN Iraq mission to protect people from Al-Qaeda and IS where I was deployed to Mali, Africa to taking care of civil war, terrorism and other political conflicts.

Does it seem like a logical background to what you do now?

With my knowledge and experiences in strategic / operational excellence along with global network, my current role as director of business development is a good fit. I draw big picture together with ambitious / talented people and connecting the dots in the right moment.

1 min pitch for what you are doing now?

Now I’m taking care of business development for an AI company and start-ups. This means connecting them to right person/industry and right time to boost up their business and progress which I believe quite logical after being a strategic / operational positions I also work with my network around the globe – Europe, Middle-east, Asia and Africa.
So far in 7 weeks, my AI company got attention from a German car-maker and Asian car-maker via my network the contract (if they can close) looking for up front $10m and quarterly charge $1-5 per unit they sold, this is from 0 revenue in Jan. Also under negotiation with education industry and entertainment industry which I see very feasible to close within 8 weeks after POC/Demo/Pilot programme at min of $1m contract each along with unit sales share. So I believe I have been lucky with reading trends and find the right point to tackle pain points of many industries which I strongly believe I can transfer to assisting ICOs – strategy, story build-up, focusing industry, marketing and negotiation.

Why did you get involved with ICOs?

As I take care of some start-ups and small-mid size companies, they are struggling to get funded and the fastest way for them is ICO so my journey started from that point.

Why do you think it is such a powerful idea?

TGE or ICO whichever you call, this methodology is somewhat overlapping early stage of introducing IPO in the world, which ignited economic evolution (I rather choose evolution than revolution as it changed whole story), thru ICO, mankind will witnessing they never expected and experienced, the booming of technology / industry evolution.

We will live different world every day. This is why I believe in ICOs – decentralisation, spread ideas, technologies, innovation whatever you call, it is exist because of ICOs.

How can people find out more about you & your work?

I have some articles about me which I proudly spend huge money to buying equip, staff was free by member states after negotiation.

See this interview article after I raised money from UN Security Council $100m which I spent in a month though
Also news articles about fundraising campaign with Angelina Jolie at Dohuk, Iraq 2015 (there are so many that’s why I include only one article)

There are also upcoming events where I have been invited as a VIP guest for global online radio show fireside chat to discuss “The Future of Financial Services & Technology: Our Global Panel Shares Their Insights!” on Wed 14 March.

Anything else you’d like to add / we should have asked?

Well, I’m happy that you did not asked how many people I killed during my tenure with the UN, actually every single person asked me this question when day learn about my career.

How can people contact you & learn more about you?

People can find me via Linked In page  so far +5600 connections and increasing 200 per day and I am waiting for ICO Bench to approve my profile for expert too.
