1 min pitch for what you are doing now?

As a newly appointed Chief Growth Officer at OpenPayd, I am in charge of designing and implementing the strategy to support our growth objectives.

OpenPayd is a 3 yo, London-based, profitable, “under the radar” Fintech, already helping hundreds of SMEs access cross-border banking and payments. Quite impressively, the company is on track to process 1 billion EUR payments within 12 months.

OpenPayd offers Financial Institutions & Tech Businesses a single access point platform to varied services from segregated IBAN accounts & sub-accounts in 25 currencies, FX, card processing, outsourced regulatory services and EMI licence umbrella. They can launch new propositions fast but also scale regulatory operations through outsourcing and spread internationally with our global licence network in UK, EU, US & Turkey (for now). We are also in the process of becoming a bank in the UK!

How was the last year, what worked well, what didn’t move as quickly as you would have liked?

Overall, I can probably say that I found quite frustrating that easy access to “underserved” banking for SMEs has not taken off quite yet but having only recently joined OpenPayd, I am now very excited to fully dedicate to this mission. Access to banking should be a right, for individuals as well as legitimate companies.

What are your plans for the future?

This year, we are planning to accelerate sales outreach and partnerships, accelerate our international growth and pursue our banking application process. All of that on top of expecting my second child for April. Big & exciting programme!

What did you talk about at this event?

I really enjoyed our discussion around PSD2 and Open Banking topics, where the industry currently stands, what good looks like in the next 3 years and why this move is so important for the whole industry and should not only be a compliance game but a real opportunity for all industry player to seize, including banks, find new revenue and customer acquisition opportunities, while improve customer experience and offering available.

I also hope that it will represent the opportunity for consumers to get back in control of their personal data and understand its value for their own benefits. Way to go before all of that happens though…
