FightPandemics today launched their altruistic platform which aims to fight COVID-19 and bring communities together. They made the announcement during their Stronger Together Summit.

The newly launched website is available in 20 plus languages and aims to provide an innovative service for people in need, whether they are seeking medical advice or simply looking for a hand with their groceries.

Individuals, organisations, and governments can find up to date information and request help, not only in their local area but across the world, connecting those in need of assistance with those who can provide it.

FightPandemics mission is indeed personal. Its founder Manuel Gonzalez Alzuru contracted COVID-19 whilst attending a conference in Paris. After returning to Barcelona he struggled to find help. It is from here that the plight of FightPandemics began to take shape.

Seven months on, and FightPandemics is now an international organisation with a large network of over 1500 volunteers, 70+ countries, who have contributed to the creation of its online platform.

Alzuru stated: Information sharing and well-connected communities can save lives: We want to ensure that every offer of help is matched to a need, and every request for help is matched with a response: now and in the future. We believe that we can seize this challenging time to drive transformation”.

Since its start, FightPandemics has grown enormously. The team has attracted donations in the form of software credits, subscriptions, and additional resources that equate to a value of over 1 million euros from brands such as Slack, Workable, Veriff, Zendesk and Amazon web services. Its volunteer numbers are equally impressive; since April, the organisation has received over 6,000 applications for volunteer roles.

Their goal is to not only tackle global crises but to empower communities, manage resources, and make decisions as a collective. As Alzuru states: ” We have already received so much positive support from our partners and volunteers without even raising a single dollar in capital. This is evidence that there is a strong belief in our cause and community support for FightPandemics mission. If we unite resources we can solve many of our world’s problems”.

FightPandemics is a global initiative with over 1500 members and growing. They are pioneering the use of an altruistic platform that connects those in need of assistance and those who can provide it.

They have listed over 200 initiatives for philanthropic and social connection toward the fight against COVID-19. For more information visit their website: fightpandemics.com/about-us.
