FIFA 22 on the PS5 looks worse than it does on the PS4

FIFA 22 is out, and EA Sports’ annual football gaming franchise is sure to keep football fans around the world entertained until the next instalment. The game has launched for all major console platforms and the PC as well. While the game has received praise for some of the improvements it features compared to the previous game, there’s some debate regarding the graphical quality of the game on the PS5.

What PS5 players are saying

As reported by GamerHeadlines.com, a lot of PS5 players have criticized the game’s texture and lighting for looking washed out. Individual grass blades are significantly easier to make out in the PS4 edition, while the PS5 edition’s grass looks artificial and bright. Due to this, PS4 players are content with how the game looks on their consoles. Pan shots that are shown before kick-off are also quite disappointing on the PS5 as the stadiums have cartoon-like appearances.

During free kicks, the landscape darkens and blurs, and PS5 players are confused as to whether this was intentional or a bug that EA didn’t care to fix. However, some have been quite appreciative of this effect and have praised the developers for making free-kick sequences feel more intense than previous editions of the game.

What EA has to say about the graphical glitches

PS5 users aren’t the only people who have had complaints about how FIFA 22 looks. The FIFA 22 has also received flak for being fuzzy, with the players’ faces being hard to recognize at times. XBOX Series S players have put forward a theory that might explain the graphical issues – the 720p – 1080p scaling.

However, only the developers really know what went wrong during development. So far, EA hasn’t released any kind of update as to when PS5 and XBOX Series S players can expect improvements in terms of the game’s graphical issues. However, considering the number of complaints that gamers have made across forums on the internet, it’s safe to say that EA will have to make improvements soon.

FIFA 22 features exclusive to the PS5

The greatest addition that FIFA 22 makes to the FIFA franchise is the Hypermotion Technology, which works wonders to render real-world footballers’ traits into the game. As a result, the game boasts of more than a whopping 4,000 new animations. However, EA Sports has only offered this feature to Google Stadia, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5 players, which has left PS4 players fuming.

Other features

Other features such as Career Mode and Ultimate Team are common for both PS4 and PS5 players. In Career Mode, FIFA 22 offers a new option – Create A Club. This option allows players to build their own teams and the ability to customize the team’s kits, stadium, and crest. These features can also be changed when a new season commences. The player career mode has also been tweaked, and now players can put their characters on the bench and make them come on as a substitute.

In Ultimate Team, FUT Heroes cards with unique league-specific chemistries have been introduced. The Heroes card list features names such as Tim Cahill(ex-Everton and Australia), Mario Gomez(ex-Bayern Munich and Germany), Joe Cole (ex-Chelsea and England), Freddie Ljungberg (ex-Arsenal and Sweden), and more.

The VOLTA Football mode, which offers a taste of high-intensity street football, now features special abilities. Players can use these abilities during matches to boost players’ avatars. The abilities include Aggressive Tackle, Pure Pace, and Power Strike. There’s also a VOLTA Arcade mode for playing online mini-games, which is yet another interesting new addition to the franchise.
