Facebook has announced the expansion of Personal Fundraisers to give individuals the ability to fundraise for COVID-affected local businesses.
Previously, the personal fundraising feature on Facebook was not available to businesses. However, given the challenges many SMEs are facing, the social media network is enabling individuals to start a personal fundraiser to support their favourite businesses. As this feature is only available on personal profiles, business owners can run a personal fundraiser for their business through their personal profile.
‘Boost with Facebook’ free webinar series continues at 12pm, Thursday, 23rd April
In response to COVID, Facebook moved its business training events, ‘Boost with Facebook’ online with a weekly webinar series to provide Irish SMEs with the support and tools they need to survive.
Since it began, over 500 small businesses have attended ‘Boost with Facebook’ webinars. This week’s session entitled “Marketing on Mobile” will take businesses through a step by step guide to creating and delivering effective Facebook ad campaigns. Experts will provide practical advice on ad creation and design as well as provide insight into developing successful mobile advertising content and strategy. The webinars are free and people can register to view them at Boost With Facebook.
Commenting on the importance of supporting SMEs, communities and the economy during COVID-19, Ciaran Quilty, Vice President of Global Business Group at Facebook said;
“In recent weeks, we’ve seen people on our platforms rallying around small businesses who may be struggling at this time. We’ve listened to these individuals and the business community and that’s why we’re expanding our fundraising tool to enable individuals to fundraise for their favourite local business. We think this a good way to help people help small businesses in our communities who need it most.
“We have also been running weekly ‘Boost with Facebook’ webinars for SMEs who are having to adapt their businesses to survive COVID. The webinars cover training on business topics like building a website, hosting virtual events, pushing creative boundaries, developing Facebook ad campaigns and more. The webinars have been very well attended and there has been lots of engagement from businesses throughout the sessions.”
Facebook’s webinar series is free to view on Boost With Facebook with past webinars also available. Further updates on the schedule for ‘Boost with Facebook’ series can be found at Facebook Ireland and Boost with Facebook.
