Facebook Cafe is Coming to Network on Aungier St. Dublin and Invites Customers for a Coffee and Privacy Checkup

Facebook is opening the doors to its “Facebook Cafes”, in Dublin, Cork and Galway, throughout next week, from Monday, October 21st to Thursday, October 24th.

On Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd, Facebook invites people in Dublin to come along to the Facebook Café at Network, 39 Aungier Street, for a complimentary tea or coffee, and a privacy checkup of their Facebook profile.

Facebook’s privacy checkup allows people to tailor their personal settings and control who sees their profile information, how much of it is seen and by who, and which apps and websites are connected to Facebook through their profile.

The Facebook Café is coming to Dublin to encourage people to take control of their privacy as new research conducted by One Poll on behalf of Facebook, reveals that almost two thirds (64%) of Irish people worry about their social media privacy. 67% say they worry about who is looking at their posts on social media; almost the same number of respondents worry about their real-world privacy, for example, CCTV footage (66%).

Gareth Lambe, Head of Facebook Ireland, said: “It’s normal to worry about who can see the things you share on social media, but not everyone knows what they can do about it. That’s why we have made customising your privacy settings on Facebook quick and easy. At our pop up cafés you can get help and advice on how to change your privacy settings – all in the time it takes to make a cup of coffee.”

Facebook Cafes will pop up in partnership with existing cafés on the following dates:

Monday 21st – Tuesday 22nd October

– Network, 39 Aungier St, Dublin 2 (8 am – 4 pm)

Wednesday 23rd October

– Espresso 44, William St, Galway (8 am – 4 pm)

Thursday 24th October

– SOMA, Tuckey St, Centre, Cork (8 am – 4 pm)

Customers who opt-out of the privacy checkup and complimentary tea or coffee can still be served by their regular barista.
