When and where is it on?
1. Executive Summit 2019 takes place on Friday, April 5th in the Clontarf Castle Hotel from 08:00-13:00
How many years has it been going?
This is the inaugural Executive Summit
What was the inspiration to start it?
I realized there was no annual event which would see a number of eminent CEOs gather to bring their insight and views to business leaders in Ireland. I saw there was an opportunity to connect commercial leaders in Ireland by having an annual event which would see some of Ireland’s leading CEOs disseminate their insight, views and ideas through panels and keynote presentations in a concise, half day event.
What exciting things can people look forward to?
Eminent CEOs from leading organizations talking in depth about the companies they run / pressing national issues being discussed by National business leaders / ample networking opportunities with fellow executives, managing directors, organizational leaders and business owners.
The first thing attendees can look forward to insightful and very detailed presentations from industry leading CEOs on the organization they run, how they lead the organization as its CEO and how the organization executes one element of business particularly well. These presentations are part of Executive Leaders which effectively is like Ted Talks for CEOs.
Secondly, attendees can look forward to hearing the CEOs and Chairs of leading Irish organizations disseminate their views on some of the most pressing issues which will affect industry in Ireland in 2019: namely the National Housing Crisis and the UK’s exit from the EU.
In the case of our Brexit panel, the panelists will be CEOs or Chairs of organizations which will be impacted by Brexit. Each panelist will come from an industry which is likely to be significantly impacted by Brexit in 2019, thus attendees will be getting the views of fellow executives/business leaders on how Brexit is going to impact a number of Irish industries.
Another element which I think will excite attendees is that there are going to be some really excellent networking opportunities during our networking break. There’s going to be a significant amount of executives, managing directors and business owners from across the island at Executive Summit, which will create some excellent networking opportunities at ES2019 as well as the chance to speak with some of our speakers at the networking break.
What opportunities are on offer for those attending?
I think the main opportunity that Executive Summit as a whole offers to attendees is this: attendees will be able to come and take in the insight you might expect to get from a full-day event, to network and connect with other Irish commercial leaders and be able to leave at lunchtime to return to their place of work. I think this is close to optimal for business leaders, because what you’re getting is the insight you might expect from a full day event, yet attendees will be able to attend Executive Summit and take the ideas and insight that they’ll have gotten from our CEO speakers, and then return to their office to work on the insight they’ve received, to implement new practices and ideas they’ve discovered from other business leaders and to start developing the relationships they’ve started with other attendees. For me, that is one of the main opportunities that attendees will get.
Who will be speaking?
Our first 6 speakers have been confirmed and these include the following
Daryl Byrne, CEO, Euronext Dublin
David McCourt, CEO, Granahan McCourt
John O’Connor, CEO, Irish Housing Agency
Michael Dawson, CEO, Leinster Rugby
Michael O’Flynn, CEO, O’Flynn Group
Pat McCann, CEO, Dalata Hotel Group Plc.
What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?
I’d advise that our attendees come into Executive Summit 2019 with an open mind. Our CEO speakers come from a range of industries and I think attendees will actually learn more from the keynote speakers who lead companies in industries that they don’t operate in, than the speakers who operate in the same industry as the attendee. Therefore I think it’s important to approach each presentation with an open mind.
I would suggest that attendees take notes throughout our keynote presentations. There will be 6 leading Chief Executives talking about how they lead the companies they lead, and how they drive their organizations to success so there is going to be a significant amount of insight from these 6 presentations alone so it’s probably best to take notes throughout.
