Enactus and Citi Foundation Launch Annual ‘Pathways to Progress’ Programme for 2022/2023

Enactus and Citi Foundation are now accepting applications to their joint ‘Pathways to Progress’ Social Inclusion Entrepreneurship Development Programme for 2022/2023. The Programme, which aims to elevate and empower young people from disadvantaged or underrepresented backgrounds to succeed in today’s rapidly changing economy, is open to third-level students in the Enactus network.

The projects will focus on diversity and inclusion for underrepresented groups in Irish society and the collaborative approach will be instrumental in generating significant social impact. Throughout the process, students and young people have the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills, preparing them for their professional futures.

In addition to securing a €1000 grant and mentorship from the Citi Foundation team, successful applicants will be invited to specialised training days aimed at developing and refining ideas. Projects will be presented to a panel of Citi judges and Enactus alumni at a showcase event in April 2023, where more seed funding can be won.

Citi and Enactus are looking for programme/project applications that will impact people from the following underrepresented groups:

· Socioeconomically disadvantaged background

· Ethnic minorities

· Physical/intellectual disability or learning difficulty

· Communities with lowest progression to third-level education

· History of low educational attainment in their families

· Identify as LGBTQA+

Isobel Walton, Enactus Ireland Country Manager, said: “The Pathways to Progress initiative is one of our most impactful programmes, and we are delighted to continue our partnership with Citi Foundation for another year. Last year the programme received dozens of applications, and from those we selected ten projects run by Enactus students to participate in mentorship sessions and develop their ideas alongside professionals from Citi and Enactus.

Ceangal, last year’s winner, is testament to the scope of excellence we see in applications to the programme; in fact, they are one of the projects that will be presented at this year’s Enactus World Cup in Puerto Rico. I’m looking very forward to seeing what comes our way this year.”

Joanna Petty, Head of Public Affairs at Citi Ireland, said: “We are thrilled to continue working with Enactus on the Pathways to Progress initiative for another year. The entrepreneurial spirit of the applicants is always impressive, and Citi is proud to support young people in the projects that have such strong impacts on underrepresented communities.”
