Over the past few days, there have been some significant changes to our lives, including directives from the Government that workers in Ireland should work from home where possible. It’s likely that this new mode of working will become a feature of our working lives, whether that’s elective or mandatory. This brings both challenges and new approaches to our typical working day, be that communicating with remote teams, tools for productivity, idea-generation, maintaining focus and wellbeing.
The ‘Effective Remote Work’ online event is tailored for people who are not accustomed to working from home or to having their employees work from home as part of their regular business operations. The panel will discuss the practicalities, the challenges and the opportunities by getting audiences familiar with the tools and practices of how to make remote working successful for everyone. The online audience will also have an opportunity to submit their questions to the panel during the event.
The online Effective Remote Work event is organised by John Cleere, Director of Red Lemonade Creative and founder of #TechThursdayKK (a well attended, industry-led, tech event that usually takes place in Kilkenny City). John outlines what online audiences can expect on the night.
“This event is designed to give real insights to both business owners and employees who have had to quickly handle the challenges of remote working. It may be a new concept for many people but it is a viable option and necessary for business continuity. We’ll hear directly from seasoned remote workers who have made the move already and also from experts who work in organisations that provide the tools for effective remote working.
The online audience will be able to access the event for free, no need to download any software just access via your browser and submit questions during the discussion if you wish. We also want to showcase the opportunities that exist now for businesses and how they can take advantage of this unique situation to evolve their business. This online event ‘Effective Remote Work’ is tailored for sharing all these learnings with the wider business community. The discussion will also be available to view online after the event using the same registration link.”
TechThursdayKK is usually an in-person public event, so what challenges has it faced with the initiative’s move to online for this event? John Cleere explains “TechThursdayKK is continually evolving, last year we took events on the road nationwide. This year we had planned to move it online to give greater access to the insights that are gleaned in every event, so it was a timely move and we’re looking forward to reaching a wider audience as a result”.
