What is Dublin Games Summit
DGS is the next international Video Games Summit based here in Ireland on the 19th July. Its goals are to create a platform to enable Ireland to be at the forefront of one of the fastest growing markets in the world. DGS was created by people who not only have a history of running large events in Ireland but are part of the gaming community themselves. DGS is set in the newly refurbished Alex Hotel in Dublin City and over the course of the day there will be over 21 talks and over 35 speakers from across Europe. Each room will host a different set of topics from esports and business to Future Tech and Diversity in Gaming to Game Development and Engineering to give our guests a broad range of topics but all influential in their own areas. The event will go from 8.30am (Registration) through to 6pm and also host an after-party in the famous Lillies Bordello.

Features of DGS
There are so many highlights at DGS this year, from our speakers, to our setup, to our partners and sponsors who without their support, DGS wouldn’t be what it is. All our speakers are massively important to us as without them this wouldn’t be possible either. Speakers such as James Dean, Founder of ESL UK, the world’s largest esports company will be opening up the esports and business room with ‘Esports 2018: Leaders of a new frontier’, followed by some of the most influential people in both the business side of gaming and esports. Esports is the fastest growing sport in the world where recently ESL and Intel welcomed over 169,000 fans to Poland for esports competitions. And recently in LA, 12 teams competed over the course of 4 days with over 10 million viewers tuning in. This is why DGS has put a heavy focus on esports this year and invited Europe’s best to speak on the topic

The Future of Gaming and Diversity room will be opened by one of the key sponsors of the Dublin Games Summit, Facebook. This session will share some inspiring stories and demonstrate Facebook’s commitment to transform the gaming industry for the better by encouraging people from minority and diverse communities into the industry. Title of talk: ‘Let’s Talk Games: Why diversity in the gaming industry matters today’. While Ed Perkins (Head of Production at Square Enix) talks about converting AAA games to FTP mobile titles

In the Game Development & Engineering Room, Steve Collins, the co-founder of Havok (One of the biggest games companies in the world) will be discussing his time at Havok and give an insight into Havok became the monster it is today. Havok who was bought by Intel in 2007 and then by Microsoft in 2015 boasts games such as Half Life 2, Halo 2, Elder Scrolls IV, Fallout 3 and many many more. Throughout the day will see developers from IMIRT, Global Game Jam, Travis George, Matheson Macault and more and from studios such as EA Games.

To ensure that the event brings the WOW factor to our guests, the DGS team also comprises of organisations such as Total Expo (Exhibition Productions) and GFD (AV and Audio). DGS wants to make a splash into the gaming community and bringing in organisations such as these will bolster the event in ways that will make sure all our guests have something special to talk about.

Sponsors and Partners of DGS
As part of the Dublin Games Summit, partnerships are absolutely key and having organizations such as Facebook, Edgescan and Design Partners on board and supporting and sponsoring the event shows the community in large that Dublin Games Summit means business but also that it means we are approaching the best names in the industry to bring the best of the best to Ireland and grow DGS into the next European (If not worldwide) hub for gaming.

DGS wants to ensure it is as accessible as possible for people not only in Ireland but also abroad that can’t make it to the event so a link has been created to where many of the talks throughout the day will be live streamed and free for anybody to access. This will be live from 9.00am on Thursday 19th at https://mixer.com/Dublingames
