New eCAI eCom TaskForce campaign gains support of ISME and Guaranteed Irish

Business groups ISME and Guaranteed Irish have teamed up with the eCAI (eCommerce Association of Ireland) in support of their popular eCom TaskForce campaign. TaskForce pairs experienced volunteer mentors with companies seeking to pivot to eCommerce as a result of current Covid market conditions. Over 500 participants have already joined the Taskforce including over 200 experienced eCommerce professionals who have volunteered as Mentors to answer the pertinent questions companies have when starting in eCommerce and guide them through the risks they may encounter during this journey.

“We are delighted to see such support being made available to businesses based here in Ireland who support jobs, local communities and the Irish economy. The Pandemic has forced people who procrastinated about e-commerce to go online to survive. Guaranteed Irish has encouraged their small members to continue to trade and to reach out to Irish companies to help them engage online” said Brid O’Connell, CEO of Guaranteed Irish.

The eCAI estimates 10,000 companies in Ireland are seeking the government’s Trading Online Voucher (TOV) scheme, a grant given to assist companies in developing systems to sell their product or service online. Over 400 companies seeking the €2,500 grant are attending online seminars held regularly every week. The Government’s current allocation of vouchers cannot meet the demand.

“The good news is, the government has put eCommerce high on their agenda. Selling online is now the most urgent strategy for many businesses reacting to Covid market conditions”, says Niall Bodkin, head of the eCommerce Association of Ireland. “Of course their situation is urgent, but businesses need to slow down, get their strategy right and seek advice from the start. Decisions made now can lead to additional costs and turbulent problems in the future”.

The eComTaskForce takes a three pronged approach, offering Mentors for advice, Training courses and high value offers from the eCommerce Service Providers.

“Pivoting to online sales gives businesses a bright window of opportunity through these uncertain times and will be an asset to growth when normal business resumes”,

comments Neil McDonnell, CEO of ISME.

There is no cost to eCom TaskForce. All companies signing up to the scheme will receive membership to the eCommerce Association of Ireland for the year.
