Dublin is tech, the past, present and future of Irish tech, 8-9 March 2018

When is it on?

We are happy to announce that we have new dates for the conference! So mark your calendars for 8-9 March 2018 at Convention Centre Dublin in partnership with Alltech Craft Brews & Food Fair. With the change of dates and venue, we are now able to expand the content and offer more hands-on activities.

How many years has it been going?

This is our inaugural event and will actually be the model going forward with additional conferences throughout Europe.

What was the inspiration to start it?

A small group of tech woman came together (after working on another event) to brainstorm a conference that would bring together the many tech communities of Ireland. Quite a few ideas were put in the mix until Dublin Is… was born.

What exciting things can people look forward to for the 2018 version?

The focus of the conference is to showcase Ireland’s contribution to global tech. We will be opening with a look at Irish tech history, progress into what is happening today, and then jump into what the future holds. It’s about coming together to break down how things are done, teach what we know, learn from others and join forces to make the magic happen. We plan on some interactive showcases, workshops and other community focused activities as well. Being a community conference, our main goal is for attendees to leave feeling nourished, encouraged and ready to take on the tech world before them, hopefully with new partnerships as well. Collaboration is a big part of this event.

Here are a few things to take note of:

-We now have 4 speaker tracks and 3 workshop tracks over two days. As a community conference, that includes non-technical content as well, such as workshops and/or talks about speaking, social media, and marketing, to name a few.

Our Call for Papers opens on 1 September, so keep an eye out on our site (www.dublinistech.com) for it to go live. Our speakers include some high level executives known in Irish tech, developers and engineers from well known companies, startup development experts, and movers and shakers in the community. It’s still early in the planning, so many more will be added.

We are extremely excited to be partnering with Alltech Craft Brews & Food Fair too! Attendees will conference by day and then enjoy the Fair in the evenings. Could there be a better partnership?!

In the events we manage, we always include a Giving Back aspect, so there are sure to be some charitable activities throughout the event that give back to the Irish community.

What opportunities are on offer for people / startups / investors and companies attending?

The event provides the opportunity for anyone in the community – C-level, developer, marketing teams – to come together to learn from each other, troubleshoot and collaborate, and help move Irish tech further along. Anyone looking for new opportunities, whether that is advice, a job, or partnerships, is encouraged to attend.

What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?

Come prepared to learn from those who have “been there – done that” in the industry and learn from their experiences. If you’re looking to collaborate, have in mind exactly what you are looking for and plan on doing some networking during and after the conference. We will have an ongoing Collaboration Hub throughout the event to facilitate this – helping people connect. How can people book tickets / when does it usually sell out?

Early Bird Tickets go on sale on 15 September on our website, with the agenda going live on 15 November. We are expecting 350 – 400 attendees for this first event.

Anything else you’d like to add / we should have asked?

We are very excited about this conference and hope to make it an annual event. The Dublin Is… team have been involved in many tech events throughout the years, locally and internationally, so we are very much looking forward to creating a sustainable event that has practical value in Ireland. On a side note, we have been approached by several teams to produce this event in other cities already (Amsterdam, Stockholm), so Dublin Is… will become the model for a conference series throughout Europe.
