The Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies (DIAS) will launch an ambitious strategy for its future growth on Tuesday, 20 November, at 8am at the Cliff Townhouse, 22 St. Stephen’s Green, Dublin 2.
The strategy, ‘Embedded Globally, Strength Locally’, will set out DIAS’s research priorities for the coming years, covering areas such as the formation of stars and planets, solar activity and impact on Earth, the formation of continents and oceans, ongoing earth system change, and the development of Celtic languages to the present day.
Commenting in advance of the strategy launch, Dr. Eucharia Meehan, CEO and Registrar of DIAS, said: “Ever true to its mission since its establishment, almost 80 years ago, as the first institute for advanced studies in Europe, DIAS continues to be a powerhouse for advanced research and scholarship, a magnet for global research talent, and an ambassador for Ireland in international research fora.
“DIAS attracts some of Ireland’s and the world’s best scholars; and champions and performs excellent frontier research, leading to major scientific breakthroughs. Our new strategy will build on our rich legacy, ensuring DIAS will continue to make discoveries that have long-term impact for humankind.”
