DMI AWARDS CEREMONY 2017, Rome, 25th October

By @SimonCocking

When is it on?

The Awards Ceremony will be held on 25th October in Rome.

How many years has it been going?

We started in June 2013, so this year we are celebrating our 5th edition.

What was the inspiration to start it?

We wanted to create a yearly celebration to showcase and recognize cutting edge innovation in the financial sector on a global level. In order to so this we gather the best innovative projects launched by financial institutions, on our dedicated portal – www.efma.com/innovations/. Today we have over 2300 innovations, from 594 institutions in 92 countries.

What exciting things can people look forward to for the 2017 version?

2017 is the advent of AI, it is everywhere (payments, pfm, HR, customer service…) accompanied by the arrival of open banking. As financial institutions start to create new ecosystems including new players and cooperating with third parties new services that go way beyond finance are emerging.

These themes will be prevalent during the 2017 edition of the Efma-Accenture Distribution & Marketing Innovation Awards, as the day will feature a Keynote speech from Tim Leberecht (Business Romantic – 4 ways to build a human company in the age of machines), along with live demos and pitches for the “Best New Product or Service” Awards Category, giving participants the chance to see these ground-breaking technologies close up. Participants will also vote live for their favourite nominees in this category, giving all attendees a say in the day’s winning projects.

What opportunities are on offer for people / startups / investors and companies attending?

The DMI 2017 Awards are open to financial institutions, and will include presentations of the most innovative financial projects that have recently launched, giving attendees insight into the latest market trends and competitor projects, along with the opportunity for bankers to network with peers.

Last, but not least it is a great opportunity to celebrate the financial services industry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?

Just enjoy the show, open your mind and focus on how you/your institution can adapt the insight and knowledge gained from these award-winning innovative projects to your bank; with a view to being the next winners.

How can people book tickets / when does it usually sell out?

The ceremony is a free event, so early registration is advisable. www.efma.com/innovations/innovation-awards-2017/
