Enterprise communications company DigitalWell has announced a five-year sponsorship agreement with Leinster Rugby to provide upgraded secure communications and collaboration services that will allow seamless and more consistent team communications.
Since the pandemic, Leinster Rugby, as an organisation, has seen an increased need for and usage of digital solutions enabling remote communications and connectivity between professional and domestic rugby staff across all five rugby playing areas of the province. Many of these solutions have subsequently been adopted long-term by the club and the partnership with DigitalWell will see upgraded 24/7 professionally managed service support for the team and club employees, in areas such as internet connectivity and new virtual team rooms.
“With clubs, schools and indeed centres of excellence all across our 12 counties, staying connected and collaborating is one of the most important things to our club,” explains Kevin Quinn, Head of Commercial and Marketing, Leinster Rugby.
“Digital solutions have given us many new ways to communicate and even benefit training, for example by making it easier for injured players to stay up-to-date with team briefings and training while recovering.
“Through our partnership with DigitalWell, our communication systems will see an important upgrade to better support and future-proof our team, and ensure our technology meets the same professional standards as everywhere else in our club.”
For DigitalWell, the motivation behind the sponsorship is both business-related and personal for Kildare-born CEO, Ross Murray.
“Our recent new business wins in the Americas and mainland Europe are helping us cement our position as an international player in the enterprise communications market,” explains Murray.
“However, we also wanted to remain true to our Irish roots and the client-first approach with the customers who gave us our start in this business two decades ago. Serving as Leinster Rugby’s secure collaborations and communications partner enables us to reinvest in our local community, but with a pan-European brand that matches our overseas aspirations. It makes it even better to do it with the club I have supported for many years.
“I thought Leinster’s collaboration with the Crusaders during Covid showed how Sport could leverage the latest communications technology. Video, data analysis, white board brain storming is now as important to Professional Rugby teams as the work done on the training park and we are really excited to see what we can do to give Leinster a real competitive advantage for years to come.”
The sponsorship agreement will see DigitalWell assess Leinster Rugby’s current internal communication and collaboration needs, while a new communications system will be installed and integrated across the Leinster Rugby communications ecosystem.
This deal is the first long-term sponsorship DigitalWell has committed to, marking the continued expansion of the brand into the European communications market and beyond.
