Digital Youth Council to release “HaveYourSay” App this Tuesday

This Tuesday the Digital Youth Council will release their “HaveYourSay” App. The aim of the App is to allow people to easily express their views and opinions on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) and send it to the Digital Youth Council for them to process, review and use their findings to publish reports. Over the past few months the Council has been working hard to connect with young people in Ireland through schemes such as the “DYC Mini Council”.

The first of its kind in Europe, the Digital Youth Council was set up by 16 year old Tech entrepreneur, Harry McCann with the assistance of Ciaran Cannon, T.D, & the Director of the Galway Education Centre, Bernard Kirk. Harry is an inspirational young man who we featured in our Business Showcase section previously, covering the business he set up to teach kids how to code. You can read that feature here.

The Council is made up of the top twelve young people in STEM in Ireland, including Google Science Fair winners, BTYSE winners, Junior Eircom Spider winners and more. The Council was set up with the aim of gathering the views and opinions of young people regarding STEM and to express their findings to government departments and companies the Council works with such as Twitter and RTE Digital.

The DYC HaveYourSay App, which was made by two of the Digital Youth Council members Cormac Kinsella and Cian Martin Bohan, will be available to download for free form the Google Play Store, Apple App Store and Windows Phone Store tomorrow.
