Digital learning bus launches to drive technology in schools

Irish educational technology company, Wriggle Learning, today announced the launch of the Wriggle Roadcaster, a cutting-edge 21st-century mobile learning classroom that aims to help develop digital skills around the country.

The Wriggle Roadcaster has been repurposed from a former library bus into a mobile learning classroom. Designed to showcase to teachers and students what technology can do to support engagement and enhance teaching, the mobile learning classroom is kitted out with tablets, robotics, drones, coding equipment and other state of the art technological tools. The bus will travel around schools in Ireland, demonstrating to teachers and students at a primary and secondary level how technology can be easily integrated into teaching and learning.

Wriggle Learning launched the new brand, Wriggle Jr., in September last year, to focus on delivering digital skills to primary schools. With the success of this new brand and now the launch of a mobile classroom, Wriggle Learning plans to create up to ten new jobs in 2018 to support continued growth.

Minister for Education and Skills, Richard Bruton was present at the launch of the Wriggle mobile learning bus at the Irish Primary Principal’s Network (IPPN) annual conference, in Citywest, among 1,500 educators.

The Minister for Education and Skills has been advocating for a digital revolution within curriculum reform development since his appointment. The Wriggle Roadcaster is set to embody this digital revolution and drive the Irish education system forward.

Commenting at the launch, Simon Close, Wriggle’s Primary School Lead said:

“The Wriggle Roadcaster aims to help schools to start their own digital journey working towards supporting and fostering key digital skills, for example, coding, problem-solving, computational thinking, creativity and more, through the use of technology.”

Paul Dooley, Wriggle’s CEO commented:

“We wanted to create a resource that would bring the 21st-century classroom to life for teachers and students. With the Wriggle Roadcaster, we’re able to deliver both training workshops and inspiration sessions on what technology can achieve as a tool for schools across the country.”
