Digital Hub continues to expand to serve Ireland’s growing tech sector

Tech sector growth faces central business hub with expansion

An increasingly growing Irish tech sector is forcing a state-owned central business hub to consider expanding its premises.

Digital Hub, an area of nine office buildings located in The Liberties, Dublin 8, is being faced with growing demands from client companies to accommodate the scaling of their operations.

The Hub comprises of 70,000sq feet of office space, housing some 95 digital companies who recruit over 700 employees. The premises are state-owned and operate under the Digital Hub Development Agency (DHDA).

According to general figures from the Hub, a total of 12 companies based on the premises have grown in the past year in terms of both employee numbers and physical space.

“Running our digital creative agency ‘Juvo’ from the Digital Hub has allowed us to scale up quite easily over the past 12 months due to the flexible lease agreements, larger office space available, excellent facilities throughout and of course the central location,” said Mark Murphy, director of a company operating in the Digital Hub.

“All of this in turn helps us attract the right professionals, as the key to any successful business is the people.”

Digital Hub is home to various startups and tech enterprises, both Irish and international, including US-based IT solutions firm Quantum, developers of retail operations management platform Bizimply and the team behind online data training course Kubicle.

Chief Executive Officer of DHDA Fiach Mac Conghail said the Digital Hub is set to see the continuation of expansion in 2018 and management will ensure the support of companies’ growth in the year ahead.

“We are also putting a renewed focus into revitalising the cluster dynamic to ensure more companies can really reap the benefits from being part of a wider digital community,” he said.

Digital and tech companies can apply for commercial space at the Digital Hub through an online application process which looks at the companies’ innovation, services and future outlook.
